Why Buy a Carbon 456?

The On-One Carbon 456 is the World's first, and currently only, long travel carbon hardtail trail bike. It takes all mountain strength and versatility to a new super-lightweight standard, offering surefooted totally dialed performance that really does give the best of all worlds.

It is the bike that most of us at On-One ride ourselves- here's ten reasons why:

1. The only long travel carbon hardtail in existence.

We wanted a new version of our legendary 456 steel trail frame that weighed less and rode faster- carbon was the obvious choice. On-One are ahead of the game- other manufacturers are due to release long travel carbon frames but the Carbon 456 is the first.

2. Tube profiles and frame construction

A hugely oversized monocoque front triangle deflects rocks and increases strength. High modulus carbon is laid with the best resins available to produce a stiff, strong frame with just the right amount of compliance in the rear end.

3. Mix tapered headset

Tapered headtubes increase torsional stiffness and improve tracking at speed. Compatible with standard or tapered steerer forks this is the single best way to improve your ride. It also makes the frame look like it would withstand a ballistic attack!

4. Takes short, medium or long travel forks

Like it's steel and Ti siblings, the Carbon 456 is fully compatible with forks with 100-160mm of travel, allowing you to tailor both the ride characteristics and position to your personal preference. The 456 is one of the most versatile geometries ever- not too laid back to be a slouch on the climbs, but perfectly nailed when the going gets fast of the ground gets left behind...

5. Swap-outs for single speed or geared use

We've taken the concept of replaceable mech hangers one step further and now offer an interchangeable rear drop-out system. This means you can use your Carbon 456 single speed, geared, or fit one of the excellent new hub gear systems.

6. BB73 bottom bracket

A wider bottom bracket shell increases stiffness and makes for better power transfer without the need of a specialist bottom bracket unit. A big step forward.

7. Award winning 456 geometry

The product of years of intensive testing and R&D, the 456 geometry is totally sorted. Versatile, steady and fast- in fact everything you might want from a trail bike. Raise the front and you're perfect for all mountain and free-ride. Drop the front and you've got an XC race bike. Truly do-it-all with no compromise.

8. Excellent user reviews and feedback.

Check out our Reader's Rides section here. Customers have ridden this frame in many different configurations but the reports are invariably positive, which makes us very happy!

9. Massive tyre clearance

The frame has been designed specifically to cope with the UK winter mud! Generous clearance means you won't clog up and you can run tyres up to 2.5 inch width.

10. Lightweight yet super strong

With a frame weight of just 3.3lbs (1500g) it's easy to build up a full trail-ready bike with chunky bolt thru forks, big rotors and tough wheels for less than 24 lbs! And if you slim it down your bike could way as little as 22lbs!!! Lightweight with no compromise on strength...

You better run it in white color, like inbred. That would be a dream!

  • DanielE

    Yes, 650b would be nice.

  • Camille Spronken

Hope you guys adapt the 456 geometry for a dedicated 650B bike and launch it when 650B becomes mainstream.
