Carbon 456 in white anyone?

Yup white's the new black alright.

We're planning to introduce a couple of colour options over the next few months. Hand painted in the UK by Denby at no extra cost to you, we reckon it's a pretty good deal.

Hi Eddy. The white, red and blue frames have indeed lost the contrasting inner seat and chain stay and pinstripe detail as you've spotted. I should be able to get some photos done and uploaded to the bike pages later today. Be aware that the prices of the white and coloured frames is due to go up to £599 on 12th September so be quick!

  • eddyh

Oooh, will the finished products keep the pinstripe on the top tube and black inner seat/chainstays too real pics inc built up ones would be great when there done, still not sure if white is too bling, but is growing on me over stealth black.

  • JonB (On One Team)

Yes Alex, all present and correct. Your frame is due to be disptached tomorrow. We got there in the end!

  • AlexF

Did the white frames arrive as planned? I pre-ordered but haven't seen or heard anything yet :(

Hello Harry. 100mm shocks on a 456 will be fine, though IMHO the ride is best balanced at 120-140mm and you would really be better off with a Whippet. Surprising though just how fast and agile a Fox 140mm forked Carbon 456 is though- blew us all away when we first rode it...

  • harryg

Evening all. Is the 456 OK witha sid Race 100mm travel fork, or will that result ina compromised ride? Want it slightly more XC focused. Should I go for the Whippet instead? H

  • markw

Thanks for the reply Jon. I am going with the white version :) Looks awesome.

The black frame doesn't look like the white frame Mark although there is an 'inverse' colour scheme of white on black in the pipeline. The current black is still, er, black- raw unidirectional matt black carbon with gloss black decals...

  • markw

So is the black one still matt black with gloss black graphics? Like the first batch? Or is that going to look more like this white version? Thanks,

  • AlasdairM

OMG - that looks stunning in white !! Had been trying to decide between the 456 and a Cove Handjob however this has made my mind up for sure !!

Good question Harry g: carbon or titanium- which is better? It's difficult to give a straight answer as each material has it's own merits. We'll be posting a blog in the next few days that'll go into some detail about each bike and why it may or may not suit your needs. However, in the meantime I think it's fair to say that the carbon is light and stiff and is awesome at picking great lines, flying down rocky descents (often literally) and propelling you uphill with the minimum of effort. The Ti on the other hand is beautifully well balanced, solid and secure- giving a level of control and smoothness not normally associated with hardtails. Kind of depends on your riding style...

  • JonB

Yeh that should be fine Justin. Just drop Ben an email at [email protected] detailing your requirements and he'll sort it out.

  • JustinW

What about those of us who pre-ordered the frame? Is there any way we can get in on the paint new schemes before shipment?

  • AndyL

That should shut up the critics of the back model who said it looked ugly. But Harry does have a good question....£799 is very tempting for the titanium frame...very tempting...but double the carbon pre-order (of you got in on time) makes it a tough call.

  • harryg

Guys, honest answer here, carbon or titanium? Which one builds into the better bike? How much does the 456 carbon weigh, versus the 456 Titanium? I really like the white. What other colour options will be available? cheers H
