Interbike USA Show Review

Viva Las Vegas! Interbike is North America's largest cycle trade show where over 1100 brands, retailers, industry and media types meet to conduct the serious business of cycling. It's the only place to be for up to the minute breakthroughs and cutting edge news, and On-One / Titus' Michael Golinski was there with this report.

This year's Interbike (my 18th time!) was an exciting one. I was meeting with old and possibly new suppliers for Titus and spreading the word that On One has launched in the US! The buzz at the show was great. There were lots of new booths, lots of people and the bike industry in North America is definitely alive and kicking.

Everywhere you looked, people were showing off their new fat tire bikes (once again, we are ahead of the curve as we have been testing our new fat tire bike for some time now)
and State-side, Shiggy is building up his fat tire proto for some local testing. Fat bikes means fat forks, fat tires, and fat rims and we're working on the lot... There were LOTS of titanium frames at the show as well. I think that there were probably more ti bikes than I have seen in a LONG time. That is exciting as we are just working on details to start building some new Titus titanium frames again (watch the new website for more details coming soon)!

Speaking of web sites Titus / On-One USA is now live- so at last you can purchase all the kit you need direct from the US with minimum of postage charges. And currently as an introductory offer all On-One bars are only $39.99!!

The basement of Interbike always seems to have some gems, and this year the big draw was Circulus. Circulus  (for those that don’t know or haven’t had the chance to ride it) is a 45 degree constantly banked velodrome that takes about 5 seconds to do a lap. A few of those and you start to get a little dizzy (especially if you have had a beer or two!) Portland Design Works (our neighbours) and Bike Magazine had the track at Interbike and there was a huge crowd around it the whole time and there was some great racing (and crashing) taking place.
Bike Mag has some pictures and video here.

While there was definitely some fun being had, the real reason to be at Interbike was to get business done. All of the meetings with suppliers went really well. The full Sram line-up looks so well thought out and put together. The only thing better will be when a new Titus is all kitted out with the products for us to do some local testing. Crank Brothers has some new products up their sleeves that are sweet! We are looking forward to getting some samples to test and then speccing some of their product on the new bikes. Crank Brothers even had a new seat post hidden away in the back that I got a sneak peak at. No photos allowed! All cameras were at the ready for the fashion show however, with some very fine bikes, clothing and models going on show...

Our bearing suppliers had some cool new shock bushings that are on needle bearings. It virtually eliminates any drag in the shock movements. We are anxiously awaiting some samples to see how these do under real world testing. And last, but definitely not least, I met with some soft goods suppliers so that we can get some new Titus soft goods ordered (socks/jerseys/shorts and more)! As soon as we have these finalized, we will get the info onto our web site.

All good things have to come to an end. Friday night, it was pack up and fly back to get things organized with the product that had arrived on Monday so that we can start shipping it out.
