Can't fault the Alfine 11. I never seem to miss the number of gears I had on previous bikes. That said, the Lurcher is so much lighter than the full sus I had before. I seem to stay in the seat for many of the hills I had to get out if the saddle for. Alfine gear change is sweet, post ride clean takes no time and no worry about bashing the rear mech. No regrets about the Lurcher or going with the Alfine 11.
