We wanted a new version of our legendary 456 steel trail frame that weighed less and rode faster- carbon was the obvious choice. On-One are ahead of the game- other manufacturers are due to release long travel carbon frames but the Carbon 456 is the first.
A hugely oversized monocoque front triangle deflects rocks and increases strength. High modulus carbon is laid with the best resins available to produce a stiff, strong frame with just the right amount of compliance in the rear end.
Tapered headtubes increase torsional stiffness and improve tracking at speed. Compatible with standard or tapered steerer forks this is the single best way to improve your ride. It also makes the frame look like it would withstand a ballistic attack!
Like it's steel and Ti siblings, the Carbon 456 is fully compatible with forks with 100-160mm of travel, allowing you to tailor both the ride characteristics and position to your personal preference. The 456 is one of the most versatile geometries ever- not too laid back to be a slouch on the climbs, but perfectly nailed when the going gets fast of the ground gets left behind...
We've taken the concept of replaceable mech hangers one step further and now offer an interchangeable rear drop-out system. This means you can use your Carbon 456 single speed, geared, or fit one of the excellent new hub gear systems.
The product of years of intensive testing and R&D, the 456 geometry is totally sorted. Versatile, steady and fast- in fact everything you might want from a trail bike. Raise the front and you're perfect for all mountain and free-ride. Drop the front and you've got an XC race bike. Truly do-it-all with no compromise.
Check out our Reader's Rides section here. Customers have ridden this frame in many different configurations but the reports are invariably positive, which makes us very happy!
With a frame weight of just 3.3lbs (1500g) it's easy to build up a full trail-ready bike with chunky bolt thru forks, big rotors and tough wheels for less than 24 lbs! And if you slim it down your bike could way as little as 22lbs!!! Lightweight with no compromise on strength...
