Who Wants Glow in the Dark?

Who Wants Glow in the Dark?

The On-One nuclear scientists spilt a bottle of something special on these frames and now they seem to be glowing in the dark! Actually that's not true. We don't do atomic physics here but we have managed to source some pretty cool paint that is so luminous it would be a nightime safety feature as well as just looking the business. We're also trialling a very nice new track frame- pictured to the right of a hi-vis Pompino in this shot:

On-One Glow in the Dark Paint

High luminousity is a real possibility for future editions of our steel frames, but we have to lobby the powers that be before we can get a batch in! The On-One office geeks are very excited at the prospect but we need your support....

So, if you've had your Readybrek, leave a comment below and let us know why you would love (or hate) a glow in the dark bike!

UPDATE: Luminous frames now available in 456 and 456 Summer Season models at no extra charge! Click here to go to the 456 frame page and here to go to the Summer Season frame page.

Hey Rob, personally I'd love to do the Pompino and Pompetamine in glow in the dark but we have to trial the 456 and Summer Season first and see how they go. Fingers crossed...

Hi Simon, this particular glow paint is for use on metal only. Depending on the success of the steel 456 luminous frames we may well look into alternative colour options for the carbon Whippet.

We've done it! Yes, the phenomenal response of this blog along with some serious arm twisting has resulted in us persuading Dave that glow in the dark is a goer! 456's and Summer Season's now available for pre-order at no extra charge! Go to the regular product pages and select the Glow in the Dark colour option....

Can I have my Whippet in this colour please even if it's extra. Does it have to be steel only? I have visions of doing Mahem or Sleepless on a glow in the dark bike. That would be so cool.

I like the luminous concept but would opt for a more subtle colour at daylight to mek it really shine when dark. I´d get it as well :-)

Hello Bri. The paint is UV stable but we don't have any data for the glow period at present. I'll have a go at locking the frames in a storeroom... Maybe a UV fluorescent bike could sporn a whole movement of 'bike popping' trials riding in nightclubs. Kinda like 2-wheeled break dancing...

bri

16 September 2010

love it! do u have data for glow period this can vary a bit depending on the pigment type. Also how UV stable is the finish? No one wants to look like a faded dyno rod van in three years.... other glow colours are available and also UV fluorescent pigments - imagine how cool it is when your bike changes colour & glow when buzzed by some rude boi in his sAxo with underbody lights...
