UNCOVERED OLD SCHOOL GUERCIOTTI GEMS - ANYONE INTERESTE

UNCOVERED OLD SCHOOL GUERCIOTTI GEMS - ANYONE INTERESTE

Paolo Guerciotti is one of the legendary Italian brands, its much revered by Dave since his first ever race bike was a lovely pearl white, admittedy miles too big, Guerciotti that he time trialled his teenage years on with zero success, and performed incredibly badly in several road races.
25 years on and Guerciotti are still going strong and is run by Alessandro the son of Paolo - and Dave's been searching for an Italian framebuilder to produce for us a limited edition lugged track bike made out of Italys finest materials in the home of the cycle industry.

well i liked them so much i bought a gold one ( via your Planet X colleagues )...freshly built up with a SRAM Force groupo, ultegra/open pro wheels Nitto bars and Dura Ace stem/seatpost...weighs in at just over 20 pounds... Its been a few years since ive had a road bike ( shame ) and its a joy to ride...exactley what i wanted , a classic/retro looking bike with which to race the numpty fixed riding hipsters in my native Hackney ;)....if only The Style Council were still together id ask them for a video extra's job! could you tell me a little more about it? when were the frames built? were they just gathering dust in a corner of a warehouse? would you have a paint code or touch up paints for the gold? a cracking find, thanks a lot

Ah - sorry - just realised you will be in the USA , yes you could pay now , but sterling is only heading one way so Id hld on , in fact if the dollar retreats back to 1.80 we be so happy well send you the frame for free ! How that for a deal - your max downside is to 1.80 then you can have it for free .

These are from Italy , so euros not dollars . Well surely get some finishing stuff , but the hunt for bits with these is half the fun , I do have a few NOS super record and even a 50th anniversary groupset squirrelled away if someone had a telephone numbers cheque book .

There will be two frames - road , lugged , in thron , with dura ace headset and forks - circa 399 , maybe less if the euro holds out down to 375 , with 350 for preorders pista - lugged - in columbus neuron , some with brake hole , some without , with dura ace headset , with forks , much more expensive , circa 825 , though we will do 750 for preorders Obviously very limited stock , Track frame w/o brake holes - ALL LUGGED IN NEURON 1/52 pink - 1/53 white - 1/53 red with brake hole - 1/54 gold - 1/55 blue - 1/56 silver - Road frames - ALL LUGGED IN COLUMBUS THRON 1/51 pink - 2/52 1 pink / 1 Red - 3/53 white/1 1/green 1/silver - 3/54 1/blue 1/red 1/silver - 4/55 1/gold 2/silver 1/black - 4/56 1/gold 1/black 1/orange 2/red - 4/57 1/white (SOLD TO ME HO HO) 1/orange 1/bsilver 1/red - 4/58 1/white 1/black 1/blue 1/gold - 1/59 red - YES

I take it the red one is a pista as it does not have bottle mounts / gear mounts or drilling for a front brake. will there be may of these?

Conor Isdell

21 October 2008

The red one is class. A 53cm effective top-tube and I'll have one.

Jon

21 October 2008

You can use modern STI shifters. Shimano sell adapters that screw into the shift lever mount on the down tube.

Greg

21 October 2008

Just need to shift the old CX bike and the old Maxlight and i'll have me one of them please! Any chance you can run modern shifter/brakes with them? or are we looking at downtube only?

Isn't Thron Columbus bottom of the range steel tubeset, more or less the same as Reynolds 501? If so £399 seem's awful steep to me, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though!

Jon
