Full carbon monocoque, race-ready cross machine, benefitting from Shimano's 10-speed Tiagra 4700 groupset and sharp disc brake stopping power. Fast, lightweight and ready for the rough stuff.
The Planet X XLS is a full carbon monocoque cyclocross race frame, designed to be sharp, responsive and versatile even in the most trying of conditions. This time we've built it up with full Shimano 10spd groupset, bringing high-end performance to you at a price that cannot be matched.
We've utilised our wealth of experience in carbon frame construction to give you the XLS. The XLS's flat top tube provides both in-ride comfort but also comes in handy when chucking the bike over your shoulder when clambering up and over those testing obstacles. The tapered headtube increases strength and stiffness up front, thus improving handling too.
Equipped with Shimano's 10-speed Tiagra 4700 groupset, the XLS benefits from technology developed for the Dura-Ace 7900 series and integrated into Ultegra 6700 series. Tiagra provides you with performance, reliability and durability in the ever-efficient Shimano package.
In cyclocross braking is obviously an important aspect. Stopping performance needs to be instantaneous, preventing skidding and chattering in wet conditions. That's why the use of disc brakes has become increasingly prevalent in cyclocross, and although many of the pro's are reluctant to join the cross disc revolution, everyone else, released from the constraints of sponsorship, can enjoy the superior stopping power. The XLS uses Avid BB7 mechanical discs, famed for their braking prowess, they won't let you down in any conditions. So, whilst all those canti' lovers are trying in vain to control themselves round those slippery corners, you can almost take braking for granted. There's a reason why those on the dark side (mountain bikers) use discs; they're just simply better.
Gippeme are well known for their alloy and carbon fibre race wheels, now they've put their all into creating a practical, value for money 29"/ 700c disc brake wheelset. Built for road and off-road use the Gippemme Roccia is supremely versatile, it'll be equally at home on our touring bikes as it would any of our Gravel Adventure or cyclocross bikes. Disc brake ready and built to last the Roccia is the perfect inexpensive do it all 700c wheelset.
There you have it, quality, race-ready carbon frameset, reliable Shimano shifting and disc stopping prowess. The XLS is ready to be put through it's paces, and as you well know that in Cyclocross you sometimes spend just as much time carrying your bike as riding it, the XLS is pretty light too.

All frame size recommendations are approximate. A good fit will also depend on the correct choice of stem length, correct bike set-up for the rider and riding style.
Correct frame size choice can vary greatly with riders' torso length. If you have longer legs and a shorter torso, go for a slightly shorter stem. If you think you are borderline between sizes, and you have longer legs and a shorter torso, go for the smaller frame size. If you have shorter legs and a longer torso, go for the larger frame size to get the extra top tube length.
As the frame sizes increase, so does the length of the head tube. If you are inflexible or perhaps have a history of back problems, consider going for a larger frame size. This will increase the relative height of the handlebars making the position less “extreme”. The larger frame will also have a longer top tube, so you’ll need to compensate for this with a shorter stem.
