The 456 has become a legend, the classic steel hardtail, with geometry dialled in to accommodate a long travel fork, delivering plush, smooth travel from start to finish. The larger 650b/27.5" wheel size gives you a taste of the roll-over-anything benefits of a 29" wheel without the standover or handling issues. Truly the best of both worlds.
SRAM have nailed 1X drivetrains with X01. We've long been fans of the simpler one-up-front set-up, and this groupset manages to eliminate all those sore points that prevented previous perfection. Chain retention is faultless thanks to the X-Sync chainring; no more deflected chains, strong performance in muddy conditions - it's next level. Shifting is on-point and solid thanks to the horizontal parallelogram X-Horizon rear mech design. Doesn't mean much? Well, in performance terms it's faster, reduces shift force and does away with ghost shifting and chain slap, whilst increasing stability and precision across the range of the XG-1180 cassette. On top of this the 45650b is running some Guide R Brakes. This is pretty much the best groupset available right now.
Other product descriptions would trail off right now, but there's too much to mention on this build. Rolling on SRAM Roam 30 wheels with On-One Smorgasboard and Chunky Monkey tyres, it's a bullet proof trail set with the kind of traction capabilities that boosts confidence in the ruts, mud and savage gradients. This is a bike that likes to go hard, so we've attached a Reverb with underside mounting, as standard, and 140mm Revelation RLT's with Solo Air technology and black stanchions.
We never shy away from showcasing our own goods on our bikes and this is no different. The Knuckleball handlebar is light, strong, wide and carbon, teamed up with the super-short Corto stem and you've got a front end which is on the right side of lively. For those seated moments there's also a On-One Bignose saddle for good measure.
The 45650b is well regarded with trail riders everywhere, it's one of the bikes that spawned the long travel hardtail craze and it's still the best in that category. If you need a hardcore hardtail with classic construction, versatile geometry and the wheel size you actually want, then this isn't a hard decision at all.
